After a consultation to determine what peel is right for you, your nurse injector will clean your skin and look for any areas of broken skin or irritation. She will then explain the process and instructions needed for follow up at home. The peel is quick and easy to apply. The solution is applied to a gauze pad, and several passes are made across the entire face to deliver the medication. It has an antiseptic smell and can feel hot and tingly when first applied. It Is mixed with a numbing solution, so after the first few seconds, the skin will start to get numb.
Once applied, it will stay on the skin for several hours before washing it off at home. Your skin will have a tan/slight orange glow until it gets washed off. You will be sent home with daily instructions, towelettes for reapplication, as well as calming cream and sunscreen. Peeling most often starts around day 3 and will continue through day 7.
